A kilt is a piece of cloth wrapped around the waist. Kilt leads its history from the «Grand flowers» (Great plaid, belted plaid) and is essentially a its lower part. Historically, a large plaid was quite long and wide, so that you can throw on the shoulder or hide under it in bad weather.
