We are you guides today and we are going to tell you about the Holy Trinity St. Seraphim Diveyevo Convent. Stay with us and you’ll learn a lot of interesting things.

Holy Trinity St.Seraphim Diveyevo Convent. This is a great

Holy Land. The most Holy Mother of God has chosen Diveyevo to be Her favourite place and this sacred Land of Russia is especially protected by Her.

Diveyevo

The Holy St. Seraphim Diveyevo Convent

Seraphim the wonderworker of Sarov predicted that the Convent

would become the space of worldwide repentance.

Diveyevo Convent began in 1760 when the Mother of

God appeared to nun Alexandra at the village of Diveyevo and promised to base a great and unrivalled Convent here. On that very spot where the Mother of God appeared, nun Alexandra has built Church dedicated to the Icon of Kazan Mother of God. It was built between 1773-1780.

Holy Relics of Blessed Women or Fools for Christ:

Pelagia, Paraskeva and Maria, as well as Matrona - the confessor, who lived a life of asceticism and continuous prayer. Later on two Nativity Churches were adjoined to Kazan Church. They were: Church of Nativity of Christ, consecrated in 1829, and Church of Nativity

the occasion of Father Seraphim’s canonization in 1903.

To the left you can see the former Mother Superior’s office with Church of St. Mary Magdaline inside.

Convent’s Bell Tower was built. You can see it

just in front of you. It is more than 70 metres height. The bell weighs 5 tones and rings daily.

magnificent Holy Trinity Cathedral. Five domes crown it. They

symbolize Lord Jesus Christ and four Evangelists. It was built between 1865-1875 by the project of architect A. Rezanov. Cathedral occupies an area of 1000 square metres and can receive about 5000 pilgrims. There are 5 Altars in this Cathedral. The main one is in honour of the Holy Trinity. On the wall behind the Holy Table there is Calvary.

The right-side Altar is dedicated to the Mother of God «Virgin of Tenderness». The left-side Altar is dedicated to Saint Seraphim.

Father Seraphim used to

say: «When I am no longer with you, come to my tomb often, bring all your worries, all your troubles, tell me everything that is grieving you, talk to me as a living person. I will listen to you and your sorrow will disappear». Behind the shrine with the Holy Relics there is a valuable collection of St. Seraphim’s personal belongings: a piece of stone on which he prayed, a cross with fetters, his pick-axe, his mantle and klobuk etc.

By His saying the Earth of the Holy Ditch is much more expensive than gold because it heals and because the Most Holy Mother of God walked around this Holy area.

The cathedral square was filled with great crowds of people from Russia and abroad as well.

Now, as before Diveyevo is a centre of pilgrimage. It is close to heart of every Orthodox Christian.
