Most of the shoreline around Derwent is owned by

the National Trust.
There is a lot of activity going on around the lake such as rowing boats and motor boats for hire on the lake.

Derwentwater, North Lakes

known by the local name of Fells.
Not high (about

1000 metres).
There are 214 Fells
Many opportunities to ridge-walk between the fells.
The highest is Scafell Pike (pronounced "Score-fell"). Great Gable and Helvellyn are popular choices.

you do?

The park has over two hundred fells, all of which are open to visitors.

Windermere Lake Cruises. There is a small narrow-gauge

steam railway and a tourist steam railway at the foot of Lake Windermere.
