Victoria was one of the most
outstanding British queens, whose name was give to the whole epoch.
Victoria was born on the 24th
of May in 1819. Her parents were Prince Edward the Kent and Victoria the Saxon-Coburg-Zaalfeld. Her education was very strict. She couldn’t have friends and could communicate only with mother, home teachers and servants. She suffered much from that.
Victoria became the Queen on the
20th of June in 1837. A year later she was crowned. She was rather popular among the British. Even Russian Prince Alexander (future Tsar Alexander II) was in love with Victoria, but his parents didn’t let him marry.
On the 10th of February in
1840 Victoria married Albert the Prince of Saxon-Coburg-Gotha. Their marriage was very happy. Victoria and Albert loved each other very much and they had 9 children.
The reign of Victory can be
called contradictory. During these years Great Britain became the strongest and the richest state in the world. Britain was declared as the Empire. It had many colonies in Africa, Asia and America. In 1876 year she got the title “The Empress of India”
During Victoria’s reign Great Britain practically
didn’t have large wars, except the Crimean War, where Great Britain with France supported Turkey against Russia. This war showed true heroism of Russian people, and it gave to Britain Florence Nightingale, the beginner of nurse’s profession,
Victoria gave the name of the
system of moral values. “Victorian moral” was the whole system of different moral prohibitions and settings. Rich people were respected and poor people were neglected. Women practically didn’t have rights. They only had the role of men’s servants.
Victoria has ruled Great Britain for
63 years. She died on the 22nd of January in 1901. She left after herself the mightiest state in the world with strong industry, army and navy. Her name have got many natural and historical objects, her descendants are many of modern European monarchs.

The last Russian Empress Alexandra Fyodorovna
was the granddaughter of Queen Victoria. From her she inherited the dangerous gene of haemophilia which struck many European royal families. Russian Prince Alexei also suffered from this disease.
